Anan Ahmed Rasheed is a seasoned legal practitioner with over a decade of experience in public service and private practice. She began her career in 2014 as a State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of the Maldives, where she represented the State at the Employment Tribunal and across all levels of court; and provided legal advisory services to government institutions.
In 2017, she graduated from the University of Sydney, completing Master of Laws, where
her focus area was Employment Law. After resuming work at the AGO, Anan worked as a supervisor in the Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution Division; supervising Attorneys assigned with employment disputes. She worked as a Senior State Attorney from June 2018 to May 2021.
In 2019, Anan was appointed as the Head of the AGO’s newly established Research and Development Division, a role she held until her departure in 2023. In this leadership position, she was responsible for conducting legal research, designing and delivering training programs for attorneys, and building the Division’s operational framework. She played a key role in facilitating capacity-building initiatives, collaborating with international partners, and organising awareness sessions with relevant stakeholders, while also maintaining a litigation portfolio focused on employment law.
She also served in significant national roles, including as a Member of the National Health Research Council established under the Health Service Act, and as a Member of the National Tender Board.
In November 2023, Anan transitioned into private practice. Her current areas of focus include employment law, family and divorce matters, and contractual and commercial law.
